BURA's Awards

One of the key ways in which we identify best practice is through the longstanding and independent awards that we manage and administer, including:

BURA Awards for Community Inspired Regeneration

The Waterways Renaissance Awards

Waterways Renaissance Awards Ceremony 2010 will be held at The Lowry, Salford Quays on 17th March. Reserve your place now by clicking here for a registration form.

The Value of Recognition

"The local reaction to winning the Award has been huge. The impact on individual and collective self-esteem has been invaluable."
Grange Park Community Project, Blackpool - award winner

"I know our group of residents will treasure their memories of the day [the Awards Ceremony] for some time to come and the awards have had a great impact on the estate and in the neighbouring Hackney area."
Gascoyne Estate Community Art Mural, Hackney - award winner

"We appreciate the opportunity to meet with the other winners and learn about the wonderful things that have been achieved by communities throughout Britain."
Strathfillan Community Development Trust, Scotland - award winner

What BURA is doing

It's fantastic to receive such feedback on the impact of an award, but we want to continue to promote and support our award winners beyond the ceremony. We want to do more to share their experiences and the lessons they have learnt. We want to encourage others to take note and adopt such imagination, innovation, and determination. In doing this, we can help ensure that this year's best practice is next year's common practice.

We are pursuing opportunities for linking our award winners to each other and to useful information through an Award-Winners Network and facilitating ongoing learning about best practice.

Defining Best Practice

We hope that you will read about the projects recognised in our Awards and use them to guide your work. By building on their ideas perhaps you too will become an Award Winner in the future?

If we can help in anyway please contact the Awards Team using the contact details below.

"Celebrating living examples of best practice in regeneration is of incalculable value in bringing home to us what is important, what we value and above all, what works."
